Yin is very different to most forms of yoga, or indeed most forms of exercise. It is a gentle style suitable for all levels of ability. It is adaptable and so can be tailored to suit individual needs.
A blissful blend of mindfulness, relaxation and yoga. Routines are mostly floor based, we use different poses and hold them over a longer period of time. While most exercise is focused on muscle, yin targets the joints and connective tissues in order to promote flexibility, mobility and strengthen the body as a whole.
Born of Chinese routes, Yin yoga has close links to other disciplines such as Acupuncture, Tai Chi and Qi Gong.
Yin needs Yang. Yin is designed to complement and enhance other forms of exercise, be that running, tennis or yoga. It can also be used as the perfect remedy to a busy lifestyle. This is the other side to your workout that you didn’t know you were missing!
At So Hum Yoga, our particular brand of Yin yoga aims to increase self-awareness through mindful movement, tuning into the breath and noticing what is going on inside the body during our practice. We hope to give you a closer understanding of your body that you can carry off the mat and into everyday life.
A Yin Yoga practice will help you to slow down, relax, and realign your mind and body. You will leave class feeling relaxed, refreshed and supple.
